*The Jiule Chamber Ensemble of the Beijing Chinese Orchestra
The splendid performance of this concert will be presented to you by the Jiule Chamber Ensemble of the Beijing Chinese Orchestra. The repertoire includes not only the familiar tunes of "Daily Life of Qing Qing" and "The Story of Minglan," but also the distinctive yet trendy "Super Mario" and "Happy Landlord," as well as the vibrant "Joyful Spirits" and "Marketplace". A multitude of delightful pieces will fully showcase the charm of traditional Chinese music. The musicians, using ancient ethnic instruments, will interpret contemporary music, allowing you to experience the new sparks that fly when a millennium of historical heritage meets lively and youthful melodies.
The JiuLe Chamber Ensemble is a cutting-edge folk chamber group founded by the Beijing Chinese Orchestra. Comprising nine exceptionally talented young musicians, the ensemble radiates youthful energy and versatility, seamlessly blending traditional Chinese music with contemporary folk compositions. Since its inception, JiuLe has captivated audiences with popular works such as One Night in Beijing, Summer Palace, Quicksand, and Joyful Spirits.
In 2015, the ensemble took center stage in the immersive concert Musical Tales of Beijing, produced by the Beijing Chinese Orchestra. Two years later, they broke new ground by collaborating with two acclaimed musical theater performers to create China’s first Chinese music drama, Spring River Flower Moon Night.
Over the years, JiuLe has gained international acclaim, performing across the United States and Europe. In 2018, they embarked on an extensive tour, visiting 58 cities and delivering 55 performances. Among these, their scenario-based concert Splendors of Chinese Music was met with enthusiastic praise from global audiences, solidifying their reputation as a bridge between tradition and modernity.
