1.Chengdu Adds Four International Direct Flight Routes to Dubai, Madrid, Paris, and Penang

At Chengdu International Aviation Hub High-Quality Development Promotion Conference held on April 25, it was announced that Chengdu will launch or increase the frequency of 14 passenger and cargo international routes to 13 cities in 2025, including Paris, Athens, Milan, Madrid, Dubai, Bali Island, Tokyo, Osaka, Brussels, Penang, Prague, East Midlands, and Jeju. Sichuan has reportedly put its priority to building major thoroughfares for opening-up, with Sichuan Province Airport Group Co., Ltd. aiming to open, resume, or increase the frequency of 28 passenger / cargo international / regional routes this year to bolster global connectivity.

2.Chengdu’s Robust Economic Statistics in Q1 2025

In the first quarter of 2025, Chengdu recorded a regional GDP of RMB 593.03 billion, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 6.0% at constant prices. Total import and export volume reached RMB 206.52 billion, up 11.9%, accounting for 80% of Sichuan Province’s total and driving 9.1 percentage points of provincial trade growth. Chengdu attracted 331 major projects with a total investment of RMB 295.9 billion, achieving 255% and 153% of its targets for the first quarter of 2025, respectively. Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Chengdu amounted to USD 638 million, surging by 74.04% and surpassing China’s national average by 85.33 percentage points; this has solidified Chengdu’s first place for FDI attraction in central and western China. Additionally, 147 new foreign-invested enterprises were established, an 8.89% year-on-year increase.

3.Chengdu International Industry Fair 2025 Kicks Off

From April 23 to 25, Chengdu International Industry Fair (CDIIF) 2025 was held at Western China International Expo City. As a premier industrial event in central and western China, CDIIF 2025, themed “Innovate Industry Chain, Make a Low-Carbon Future”, brought together over 600 global industrial leaders and innovators to showcase advancements in cutting-edge sectors including intelligent manufacturing, industrial internet, and new materials. This edition of CDIIF adopted an integrated “exhibition + conference” model and featured nearly 20 high-level forums and conferences, with insights shared by nearly 100 industry experts and corporate executives, attracting over 1,000 participants in the industry. These efforts aimed to help enterprises capitalize on policy incentives and accelerate the commercialization of technological achievements.
4.The First in Southwestern China: Walmart Global eCommerce Chengdu Office Inaugurated
On April 23, Walmart Global eCommerce Chengdu office was officially launched, marking Walmart’s fourth office in China (after the ones in Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Hangzhou), and the first in southwestern China. By setting up its Chengdu office, Walmart Global eCommerce will extend its presence from coastal hubs to inland markets—in western China’s cross-border industrial belt, extending seamless and efficient services to Chinese-based exporters.
5.Chengdu Courts Global Partners Anew After the Inclusion of  Mixed Team Event of Table Tennis Olympic

Amidst the lingering melodies of a children’s choir that marked the conclusion of ITTF Men’s and Women’s World Cup Macao 2025 on April 20, Chengdu officially received the event’s flag in the flag handover ceremony. With the flag raised, Chengdu extended a global invitation to ITTF Mixed Team World Cup Chengdu 2025.
