Updated Spring Cultural and Tourism Event Guide for Chengdu

Over 300 cultural and tourism promotions, including 10 elite routes (click for the links) are being introduced this season in Chengdu, offering a wide variety of experiences designed to attract more tourists and help them make the most of the season in the city.

Manhua Manor, located in the northern outskirt of urban Chengdu, presents grand visual and audio feast from the end of February to the end of March, celebrating the blooming season of cherry flowers across 26.67 hectares in the park. Visitors can take photos at the traditional Chinese courtyard and cherry blossom-themed train station, as well as enjoy Hanfu shows, Flowery Season music performances and Iron Flower Show.

The 15th Canola Flowers Festival is held from February 28 till the end of March in Changlin Village, Tianfu Tangerine Orchard and several scenic spots in Jintang County in eastern Chengdu. Visitors will have a wonderful experience of local food, accommodation, traveling, sightseeing and shopping of local specialties.

The Tiantai Mountain in Qionglai City in western Chengdu has joined hands with Jiaguan Ancient Town to host a series of events in March. Tourists can enjoy the experience of picking tea leaves and exciting trips to the verdant mountains, tea farms and the ancient town during the spring tea-picking season.

Various programs including flower appreciation, entertainment, cultural experience and parent-child interaction will be introduced in Luodai Town, Shanquan Town and other places in Longquanyi District in southeastern Chengdu from early March to mid April.

The 5th Donglu Peach Blossoms and Food Season in Chengdu Eastern New Area is to be held from March 10th to 31st, the visitors can experience the ICH creative works, special agricultural products and local food.

Xinjin District in southern Chengdu hosts a series of pear blossom-themed programs during March to May, covering flower appreciation, springtime strolling, ICH experience, creative DIY, training sessions, entertainment and fun sports activities.

As the azaleas reach the prime fluorescence, the Huawu Renjian Scenic Spot in Xinjin District in southern Chengdu hosts an event themed with Hanfu and traditional flower-adorned hairpin, where visitors can appreciate the natural beauty and traditional Chinese culture.

The Season for Self-driving Flower Appreciation Tour is held in Baitou Town in Chongzhou City in western Chengdu. The surrounding areas of the town boast a grand view of flower sightseeing sites, including cherry flowers and plum flowers and a vast 20000-hectare canola flower farm. Visitors can enjoy various activities such as role play in AR-created dramas and treasure hunts in flower seas.

Pengzhou City in northern Chengdu is to hold a series of peony-themed programs from March 20 to May,  including embroidering of peony patterns, painting peonies and exhibitions of peony-themed works. Visitors can immerse themselves in peony culture through modern technologies such as AR and VR.

As the plum flowers on the large expanse of fields reach their prime time. Linji Town in Qionglai City in western Chengdu holds various activities in March, including creative products fair, street artists performances and digging spring bamboo shoots, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the countryside during springtime.

The Cherry Blossoms Appreciation Season is held in March to April at the Phoenix Lake Scenic Spot in Qingbaijiang District in northeastern Chengdu. The scenic spot boasts over 16000 cherry trees of dozens of species, with a variety of events such as Cheongsam Shows, Hanfu parades, China Cup International Orienteering Circuit and Deep-water Surfing Shows.
