TEFL Training Briefing
The TEFL training is organized by the Information Research Center, State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA). The certificate of TEFL in China, which we issued, is authorized by the US TEFL Training Center, and is officially recognized throughout China.
The TEFL training is an intensive program. The course complies with the international standards. The training is designed for those who are expert on English language and are willing to work in China as English language teachers. The purpose of the training class is to help foreign teachers on:
• How to understand and aligned with the Chinese education system?
• How to adapt yourself to the Chinese culture differences?
• How to adjust the teaching style according to the learning habits of Chinese students?
Upon successful completion of this training and the examination, the TEFL in China Certificate will be awarded to you. All the trainers are having education degrees and substantial teaching experiences, especially years of teaching experience in China. They are not only teaching TEFL theory, but more focus on sharing the practical experiences.
Attendees
The qualified attendees are those who are holding foreign passports and are planning to teach English in China.
TEFL Training Contents
The TEFL training is an intensive program. The contents mainly include
· The basic English teaching theory
· The characteristics of Chinese education system
· The learning habits of Chinese students
· The Chinese culture
· The Chinese laws and regulations for foreign teachers
Training Plan
The training includes two sections: online evaluation test and in-class training.
1.Online Evaluation
All attendees are required to take the Evaluation Test for Foreign English Teacher on www.chinajob.com before the training. It takes about 20 minutes. The purpose is to help foreign teachers to evaluate their own adaptive ability on teaching English in China. The results will be kept confidentially. According to the statistical results, the training class could be adjusted to emphasize on the weaknesses.
2. TEFL training plan
The training classes are classified into two parts:
a) TEFL basic: reference book “Teaching English in China”, about 20 class hours, trainers are native English experts;
b) Chinese laws and regulations (Chinese in the classroom is optional upon requirements): about 2-4 class hours, trainers are Chinese experts.
The TEFL examination will be ONE hour. It is normally arranged at the noon or afternoon at the last day. The Appendix 1 is an example of lesson plan for the 3-day TEFL training.

Time: 4-day intensive class on the 3rd and 4th weekend (Saturday and Sunday) for every two months started from March, 2009. (The class could be canceled with less than 5 people registered.)
