Established in 1958, Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TUTCM) has been listed as one of the co-constructed higher educations by Ministry of Education (MOE), State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SATCM) and Tianjin Municipal Government. It is the only former State Education Commission (Present MOE) approved International University of Traditional Chinese
Medicine and also the hosting institution of Educational Instruction Committee, World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS), “Educational Aid Center” and “China-ASEAN Educational Training Center” of Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and Ministry of Education, TCM International Cooperation Center of SATCM, and WFCMS “Belt &Road” Training Center for Chinese Medicine Education Teachers. Adhering the motto of “Stregthening moral education and pursuing academic studies, inheriting and innovating”, TUTCM has developed into acomprehensive university specializing in TCM education and covers extensive areas of study, namely as Medicine, Science, Arts, Management, Engineering, Education and etc. In 2017, the university was selected into China “Double First-class university and Chinese Materia Medica was selected into “Double First-rate” programs.

The University has distinguished teaching staff and sufficient resources for students’ internship. Currently it has two National Key Programs of Acupuncture & Moxibustion and Tuina and TCM Internal Medicine. There are three affiliated and four non-direct affiliated hospitals. Among them, the First Teaching Hospital is a National TCM Clinical Research Center, the National Acupuncture Clinical
Research Center, the National Acupuncture Clinical Center and the National Provincial Demonstration TCM Hospital; the Second Teaching Hospital is the treatment center for TCM rare diseases and leading in gynecology and encephalopathy diseases; Baokang Hospital and other teaching hospitals have unique treatment features in TCM Rehabilitation, TCM Orthopedics, TCM Community Health, Clinical Integrative Medicine and etc.

The University has extensive international exchanges and cooperation. It aims to cultivate international applied talents in clinic with solid theoretical foundation and excellent clinical skills which make it enjoy a high reputation worldwide. It has formed TCM internationalization talents training system where the bachelor education is the main part. The system also covers master and doctoral education and short
and long term certificate studies. Every year，there are over 2,000 international students from more than 60 countries or regions coming to study at TUTCM.

The new campus of TUTCM is located by Tuanbo Lake in Jinghai District, Tianjin. It covers an area of 145 hectares and the building area is 600,000 square meters. It is the biggest TCM botanic garden, the most advanced TCM science and technology park and an influential center for TCM international education in china, characterized by an in-campus lake view, TCM vegetation and culture.
