Shanghai Jian Qiao University (SJQU), established in 2000, is a multi-disciplinary private university focusing on undergraduate education for front-line application-oriented professionals in production, construction, management, and service areas. It was funded by Jian Qiao Group and is a full-time university of higher learning with undergraduate education as its mainline. The university is entitled to grant the Bachelor Degree and Associate Bachelor Degree, which are approved by China’s Ministry of Education.
SJQU is indeed a modern garden-like university. Located in Lin-gang Special Area of the Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone with great traffic convenience by subway and new campus covers an area of 53.25 hectares with beautiful natural environment, advanced facilities and more than 1.57 million paper books. SJQU now has 14 schools and colleges, i.e. Business School, College of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, College of Journalism and Communication, College of Art Design, College of Information Technology, College of Foreign Languages, College of Jewelry, Vocational College, College of Marxism Studies, and International Design College, College of Health Management, International Education College, College of Education（General Education School ) and College of Innovation & Entrepreneurship. SJQU has 36 four-year undergraduate programs with bachelor degrees and 10 three -year junior college programs with diplomas, covering economics, management, liberal arts, engineering and fine arts, ect.
SJQU has employed 1012 full-time faculties335 out of whom hold associate professor titles, covering 33.1%. SJQU has enrolled 21356 full time students, 18790 out of whom are undergraduates. Since establishment, SJQU has cultivated more than 50,000 qualified graduates warmly welcomed by employers. In recent years, the students’ employment rate remains more than 98%.
In order to cultivate our students with global vision and capacity of cross-cultural communication, SJQU has established cooperation with more than 100 companies and enterprises. SJQU also has signed MOU with foreign universities from the United States of America, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Denmark, Australia, South Korea and Japan, etc. to enhance its international education in faculty and students exchanges. SJQU was the first private university in Shanghai to enroll foreign students, and hosts more than 100 short-term international students every year.
SJQU is granted as National Model Unit, National Mass Sports Advanced Unit, Shanghai Model Unit, Shanghai Security Model Unit, Shanghai Garden Unit, National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Model Unit (Private colleges and Universities ), member of National University of Applied Technology (college) Alliance, and has passed ISO9001 certification.
SJQU is the first pilot unit of Shanghai Independent Enrollment Reforms, first pilot unit of University and Enterprises Cooperation for Hi-tech Talents, Shanghai Private Higher Education Students Mentor Base, and Pudong Hi-tech Talents Training base.
SJQU has been approved 2 Innovation Bases for Production and Education Integration and 7 Cooperative Projects for Industry-University Cooperation by the MOE.
SJQU has 1 national-level pilot major of Comprehensive Reform of Undergraduate Specialties by the MOE, and 1 National Fine Course.
SJQU has 5 pilot specialties and 3 featured specialties in Shanghai. It also has 12 fine courses, 3 high-quality online course, 2 model all-English courses and 53 key courses, 11 Key Teaching Reform Projects at Shanghai municipal level.
In 2017, SJQU has won 5 Shanghai Teaching Awards with 2 first prizes.
SJQU joined the South-West University Joint Teaching Program with the participation of 19 universities, such as Shanghai Jiaotong University, East China Normal University and so on, which enables SJQU students to enjoy and share the resources of collegiate high-quality education.
